Lucknowites were naturally ecstatic when SPIC MACAY brought the famous Mohammad Ahmed Khan Warsi and Party to perform at a well-known girls school in the morning and at the city Cantonement in the evening.
But if the audience was upbeat to hear the renowned Qawwals, the Warsi brothers too expressed their happiness at the opportunity to perform in the cultural capital. They enthralled the audience with numbers like Chhap Tilak sab chheeni, Man quanto maula, Ali Ali etc. They ended the concert on the popular number Dama Dam Mast Kalandar accompanied by the rhythmic clapping of his troupe with the audience joining in. The high point of the evening however was the a lec-dem given by Mohammad Ahmed Khan Warsi wherein he explained what is qawwalli and how it is the essence of Qual, the original art form.
